The IP Office system requires an Avaya System SD card in order to operate. This card carries the firmware and various other files that the system loads when it powers up. Once the system is operational, the System SD card holds a copy of the system configuration, licenses file and, if being used, embedded voicemail files. The card is inserted into the System SD slot on the rear of the control unit before the system is started. If the system is using a PLDS XML file for licensing, the feature key serial number of the SD card is used as the unique value against which the licenses are issued and validated.
